Xata
xata.io/
Xata lets teams spin up isolated, production-like Postgres branches in about 3 seconds for pull requests, CI runs, previews, or individual coding-agent tasks, then tears them down automatically. Its cost argument is spelled out numerically on the page: copy-on-write branching turns roughly 10 TB of duplicated storage for 100 daily PRs against 100 GB databases into about 400 GB, at a stated rate of "1,000 branches for $1." It also reports that half of current branch creation already comes from coding agents rather than humans, and shows a live-looking counter of 1,324 branches with 99.99% uptime. The site is explicit that it runs vanilla Postgres 18.3, not a fork, and offers a MotherDuck CEO quote alongside its GitHub-linked open-source repo as proof.
