A 'why choose us' section makes the comparison a prospect is already running in their head explicit, instead of leaving it to inference from a feature list. These examples show how SaaS companies frame their differentiators — against competitors, against the status quo, or against doing it manually.
(opens in new tab)The difference between a 'why us' section that lands and one that reads as generic self-praise is whether each point is actually comparative — 'built for speed' is a claim any competitor could paste onto their own site verbatim, while 'the only platform that syncs in under a second, with a public benchmark' names the specific thing that's different and lets the visitor verify it. The strongest versions pick a real point of comparison — a well-known competitor, the previous manual process, or the status quo the buyer is currently stuck with — and structure every reason around that same comparison rather than mixing unrelated claims. This section works best positioned after the visitor already understands roughly what the product does (mid-page, not in the hero), since a comparison only means something once there's something to compare against; leading with it before establishing what the product even is tends to read as defensive rather than persuasive.
A features section describes what the product does; a 'why choose us' section makes an explicit comparison — against competitors, against a manual process, or against the status quo. The best ones name the specific point of comparison rather than making claims in a vacuum.
Usually mid-page, after the visitor already has a rough sense of what the product does — a comparison lands better once there's something concrete to compare against, rather than in the hero before the pitch has even been made.
Many SaaS companies do it successfully, especially in developer tools and infrastructure, but it raises the bar for accuracy — an unfair or outdated comparison is easy for a technical audience to fact-check and can backfire harder than making no comparison at all.
